Sunday afternoon, May 28th, the power trio GEORGIE PIE thundered onstage at Hibiya Ampitheatre's Japan Blues Carnival. Opening with the instrumental 'Tool Box', from their latest self-titled CD, Masashi Hara, Hiroyuki Kaise and Hideyuki Umezawa cranked up the volume and rocked a sold out crowd with their own brand of high-powered electric blues. Masashi Hara, whose guitar skills bring to mind such greats as Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn, left no doubt that he is a major force to be reckoned with in the guitar hero business. Backed by a solid rhythm section, Hara leaned into his 58 Strat and churned out 45 minutes of no-holds-barred rock'n'roll.
The 2000 event marks Georgie Pie's second appearance at the Japan Blues Festival, which was this year highlighted by blues legend Buddy Guy.
